With the package you do learn essential photography techniques, and we even cover many advanced ideas. However, since we don’t provide photography degrees, some of our customers at least, decide to go further with their learning.
Getting a degree from a school of photography, is an easy way to add a big credential that will both increase you skill, and make it easier to get more business. Now, you may think that getting that degree would be difficult. But, the truth is that in the digital world of today, it really doesn’t have to be.
If you’ve been considering taking your photography knowledge to the next level, here are three ways that you can go about it.
Attending a School of Photography Full Time
One common way to get a photography degree is simply to return to school full time. Many colleges have photography programs, and in 2 – 3 years an adult learner can easily get their Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in photography.
There are also schools dedicated to just the art of photography. Institutions like The New England School of Photography (http://www.nesop.com), or the New York Institute of Photograph (http://www.nyip.com/) provide learning in an environment geared towards just one art. In other words they allow you to get a degree faster, and to learn from photography professionals alone.
The problem with this style of learning is that many of us simply can’t afford to take 2 years off of work. This makes full time photography school impossible for some people.
School of Photography with Accelerated Learning
For those who can’t attend a school full time, there is always part time programs, and accelerated learning. These types of programs allow you to get your photography degree in a much shorter period of time, and you don’t have to go without an income for three years. Many private schools offer 2-6 month accelerated programs, and many traditional institutions offer after hours studies.
An example of this type of program: Students of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography (http://www.rmsp.com) can choose from one of three 2 month programs at three different levels. You could spend the summer in photographing the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Montana to complete the first part of their course, for example. Two months off of work is much easier to manage than two months.
School of Photography Online
For those who can’t afford even a few months off to take an accelerated program, all is not lost! There are many alternative methods to learn photography right from home. Most colleges have distance learning programs that allow you to learn from home. These types of programs often cost less than attending the school itself, and the degree you receive in the end is still the same.
There are also school dedicated to photography that provide online programs. Be sure any institution you choose is accredited, so that you don’t end up wasting your money.
However you choose to take your knowledge further, one thing is certain. Those who take the time to get accreditation in their chosen field of photography will have one more tool to grow their business!
